BOC's best
Nairobi - The annual awards, which rank companies from a survey of Kenya's top managers, conducted by the Kenya Institute of Management, is a reflection of the company's commitment to improve operational systems and efficiencies in order to deliver quality products & services to its expanding clientele.
Managing Director John Kariuki said the award is another jewel in the BOC crown, currently a market leader in industrial and medical gases, medical equipment, welding equipment and consumables, and related services in East Africa.
"This is a great honour,” he said, adding that it is recognition of the efforts BOC is putting into ensuring ethical financial reporting standards in their operations.
In the past BOC has won a number of prestigious awards such as Financial Reporting (FiRe) awards in three categories and the COYA award for the best practice in Human Resources Management in the manufacturing category.
The third award to the company, conducted by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), was for the overall Best Financial Reporting Company of the Year, in 2004.
The firm has seen steady growth in the recent past, which Kariuki says is a return on its investment in technology.
BOC recently acquired a franchise for exclusive distribution of Miller and Hobart brands, a new range of welding equipment from the leading international manufacturing firm of Miller Electric MFG. It also increased its product portfolio to include personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure user safety of its complementary products in the welding and medical industries.
BOC Kenya also achieved a world-class status in LPG installation recently after its technical department underwent training from renowned trainers from the Gas Academy in South Africa.
The company has the expertise associated with production, distribution and applications of its products & services as it has access to global technology, with best operating practices from Linde Group, the global leading gases and engineering company.
