Damelin Pietermaritzburg students got the chance to relax and get to know each other before the exam season kicked off in a relaxed environment over a picnic at Kershaw Park.
The picnic was hosted by Damelin and was attended by 112 students. They brought their picnic blankets and their camp chairs and enjoyed a chilled day at the park.
The purpose of the picnic which was open to all Damelin students was so they could distress ahead of an intense study period. Putting the students out in a relaxed environment allows them to shift their concentration. They get to relax their minds and achieve the best positive results in their exams.
While the picnic allowed the students to rejuvenate, it was an opportunity for them to get to know each other and build relationships outside of the school environment.
Damelin student Mike Majola said that he was happy about how the college always takes the initiative to make sure that they help students to be the best they can be. It is good to see that the college wants them to develop in other aspects of their lives and not only on the academic side.
“I had fun and I’m now ready to dive into the exams with a clear head and strong focus. The picnic was much needed and it’s great to know that Damelin cares so much about our psychological wellbeing,” said Mike.
The picnic was a chance for the students to reflect on the academic journey they have had during their first semester. This was also a chance for them to share their personal study techniques that have worked for them.
As the exam season ended Damelin is confident that students will continue to work hard and to use the holiday break to rest for another bumper semester ahead. To find out more visit www.damelin.co.za.
