Echoing the theme of city life, city vibe, the Homii VIP press launch took over the street on Friday, 26 May, at the Homii Building on Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street). A first for the country, the Homii launch which was the third trending topic on Twitter on the night, attracted key KwaZulu-Natal dignitaries together with prominent media houses, radio stations and local celebrities.
The street was lit up with the building’s breathtaking high-tech projection mapping of neon colour bursts and displayed New York’s rich electric culture, which is an idea that is going to greet the streets of South Africa through Homii’s vision for the future. The décor complemented this concept with a sidewalk coffee shop and lounge setting which included LED screens depicting the new Homii brand.
This revolutionary energy-efficient model boasts a fresh living approach and is ideally poised for slick upcoming professionals who want to create a vibrant city lifestyle.
The programme kickstarted with an exclusive press tour of the Homii rooms, allowing journalists, photographers and influencers to experience the Homii lifestyle. Facilities include Wi-Fi, biometric access, kitchens, laundry and optional cleaning. Another exciting feature is the recreational lounge that makes a great gathering spot to meet one another and will be used for comedy nights, functions and more.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was Metro FM award-winning singer Cici and rapper and songwriter SVilla. These celebrity artists brought the crowd to their feet, leaving them awestruck with their phenomenal and interactive performances. Ecstatic winner of Homii’s R10,000 shopping voucher Nozipho Cele was also among the audience and proudly received her prize from A1 Capital Chairman Leo Chetty and Chief Executive Officer of Homii, Viren Mungul.
The shopping voucher forms part of Homii’s online prelaunch build-up along with the current Samsung 50-inch Smart TV competition also valued at R10,000 - both of which ties in with the urban-lifestyle theme. The TV competitions ends on Friday, 16 June 2017.
Viren Mungal explains the Homii concept: “Homii is part of the city’s vision to grow the economy and meet citizens' needs so that they enjoy a high quality of life and equal opportunities. It offers safe, convenient and affordable living options with a range of stylish rooms to choose from, modern facilities and a social atmosphere.”
Astute and accomplished businessman Chairman Leo Chetty graced the crowd with his presence on stage and thanked the press and key stakeholders for attending. He said, “This is an exciting breakthrough for the community and I am excited that I am able to share this with you. Homii will not only contribute to the urgent accommodation needs in the city but its design technology and location all contribute to the city’s vision of urban regeneration and economic activity. We will help support the city with more employment opportunities and allow the city’s people to one day invest in their future.”
Aligned to the eThekwini Municipality’s vision for 2030 of being Africa’s most liveable city, this trendy urban-living option is set to change the face of the city and breathe new life into the streets. This unique blueprint will be replicated in major cities, including Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The eThekwini site has been carefully selected to locate the resident amidst the surrounds of Durban’s warm atmosphere, all while in close proximity to exciting amenities the city has to offer. With beaches, shops, restaurants, bars and business offices just minutes away, Homii residents can enjoy a lifestyle that encapsulates social, leisure and work, right at their Homii home.
Technology will be a key player in bringing a personalised and quality service to the Homii resident. Instant access 24/7 via the Homii website and a custom-designed mobile app will allow anyone in any city the ability to locate, book and pay for their preferred Homii apartment.
The mobile app’s functionality will allow the guest the opportunity to have a closer look and feel of the building. Once downloaded, the app will send a notification to the guest locating them to the closest Homii building, along with availability. There will be no need to go through endless paperwork to get approval.
“The project is driven by the passion for building a community in the city. Homii will create the ideal environment for residents to build friendships and expand socially inside and outside of their home. The Homii facilities are designed to make the residents’ day-to-day responsibilities simple and convenient, giving them that extra time to relax, build friendships and enjoy life,” said Viren.
Look out for the official launch that is set to take place on Friday, 16 June 2017.
