After immense success in the USA, the concept was introduced in South Africa by Educor to provide students with the best resources and academic support available. “When a student registers with any of Educor’s brands, an AAC adviser is allocated to them. This adviser is an expert in the relevant field of study and will support and guide the student throughout their qualification,” said Jessie Naidoo, Educor Head of Communications.
Compere and entertainer of the event, Mo Magic, brought the AAC launch to the forefront with a grand magic spectacle that captivated the guests, together with an impressive Educor brand video that set the tone for the high-profile speakers to follow.
An awe-inspiring presentation by Dr JF Strydom (University of the Free State) and Gugu Wendy Khanye (South African National Resource Centre) highlighted the true value of advisers not only in South Africa but internationally. According to Ms Khanye, “The launch of the Educor AAC was in its truest sense a phenomenal experience. To observe such immense commitment towards student support is a moment never to be forgotten. This is evidence of Educor’s commitment to intentional and sustained relationships with their students. Congratulations to Educor for breaking ground and joining the global conversation. This centre will indeed be the advising blueprint in South Africa.”
Educor’s CityVarsity students, Swakhile Mashwama and Leonard Moeng, enthralled guests with their vocal talent and this was cemented as one of the many highlights of the launch. The ribbon-cutting was a symbolic milestone which was complemented by a much anticipated tour of the centre.

The AAC is tailor-made to facilitate support and easy learning and is categorised into six distinct faculties, including Business, Education, Creative and Vocational, IT, Technical and Social Sciences, each of which are spearheaded by a Faculty Head. The centre consists of a 56-member team (50 Academic Advisers, six Faculty Heads) and one Centre Manager. The team will drive excellence by ensuring adviser-student confidentiality and promoting honest, patient and ethical approaches in each academic session.
“The launch of the AAC is not only a celebration, but also a manifesto of our commitment to student success,” said Chiro Nott, Creative and Vocational Faculty Head of the AAC.
