Junior Brand Manager at Educor, Tracy Govender, handing over the tablet to Sifiso Mkhonza
The competition kicked off in February and asked aspiring techno-savvy listeners to send through an SMS using the word 'Digital', which granted them an automatic entry into the competition.
With the phenomenal response, Kealaboga Mmolaeng, Thembisile Nene, Phakamani Nzama, Sthembele Mbele, Sphamandla Mazibuko, Themba Mkhize, Gladness Msomi, Sashen Chetty, Luciano Gounden and Sifiso Mkhonza were the lucky entrants selected to win the 7" Android operated device.
ICESA, registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), gave away two tablets a day for one week on air. At the official handover, three ecstatic recipients expressed their excitement on winning. Kealaboga Mmolaeng said, "I am very happy to have won a tablet. I never thought it would happen to me." Phakamani Nzama thanked ICESA and Gagasi FM, and Sifiso Mkhonza exclaimed how good it felt to win with ICESA.
Group Chief Commercial Officer for Educor, the holding company for ICESA, Nolan Charles, explained the aim behind the tablet giveaway. "This year ICESA Education is changing the face of traditional learning by joining the digital revolution. Our decision to give away these devices and promote education through modern technology is to take education to the next level and encourage a community of digital thinkers," said Nolan.
