The campaign, which launched an exciting online competition, asked deserving students to motivate why they deserve to win the bursary and how INTEC can change their life.
The response was phenomenal, with hundreds of applicants responding with their heart-warming life stories on what an INTEC bursary will mean to them.
The competition was extended nationally to corporate companies, which culminated in three live draws held in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The INTEC 173 Campaign also included the announcement of INTEC's brand ambassador, Makhosi Khosa, popular radio personality, and businessman who is a proud INTEC student of one of the 173 programmes. The 173 programmes include a range of accredited offerings in the business, computer, creative, technical and vocational schools. Some of our bursary winners tell us their story
Township DJ and Welkom resident, George Selebano said that this was the breakthrough he was praying for. The twenty-year-old who graduated with his grade 12 from Thotagauta Secondary School last year, said that being given the opportunity to study with INTEC College is truly an achievement alone. "Until the telephone call, I was just a local DJ who performed at private parties and township restaurants. However, now I can proudly say that I am going to be a registered student as well, following in the path that I have always dreamed of. This is a step in the right direction towards studying what I am passionate about, and that is sound engineering."
Another deserving candidate, unemployed Isipingo resident, Vishan Ramlall, expressed his appreciation for being awarded with this life-changing opportunity. The thirty-three-year old who has a flare for cookery, was left jobless after the owner of a take-away he worked for passed away and the business closed down. With no formal qualification, Vishan struggled to find a job elsewhere. However, now that he has won the bursary his dreams will become a reality. He said, "I cannot express in words how grateful I am to receive the bursary. INTEC College has provided me with a ticket to my success."
General Manager for INTEC College, Martin Koch said, "When we launched the 173 Campaign, we knew it will attract interest. I am so glad that we also have the opportunity to offer deserving students a chance to get an accredited qualification that can build their lives."
