Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng slots in as Icasa's acting chairperson
Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng will act as Icasa's (Council of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) chairperson until a permanent appointment is made. The decision follows a special council meeting and is informed by the provisions of section 5(2) of the Icasa Act, 2000 which provides that "in the absence of the chairperson, the remaining Councillors must, from their number, elect an acting chairperson, who, while he or she acts, may perform all the functions of the chairperson."
Dr Modimoeng holds an MBA and PhD in management sciences. He is a Harvard senior executive fellow and has completed an executive development programme from Wharton University as well as Africa director programme in Stellenbosch.
