Kenya: New software solution targets small retailers

As the battle for consumers rages on in Kenya, CompuLynx, an international IT and business solutions provider has unveiled iSMART Lite - a locally developed retail management software solution targeting small size supermarket outlets.

iSMART Lite is an off-shoot of iSMART which caters for medium and large retailers and has been developed and customised by local software engineers. iSMART Lite targets growing retailers with less than three outlets. Already, retailers like Consolata Missionaries, Rahisi MiniSupermarkets, Pick & Carry Supermarket and Seven to Seven Supermarkets are using the system.

The iSMART Lite suite comes with features that aim to help retailers run their outlets efficiently and increase profitability. With increased competition and evolution to formal retail status, upcoming retailers are fighting hard to adopt standards already set by the major chains while reducing their overall overheads.

As the small retail organisation grows into a larger retailer, The iSMART Lite suite comes with the option of upgrading to the enterprise versions of the software which enables the system to perform more complex business activities that are required in larger retail businesses.
