Zain Kenya offers free payment service for electricity bills
Customers will also be able to inquire their outstanding electricity bills via text message. KPLC customers using Zap will be required to pay their bills 24 hours before the due date.
Speaking during the launch, Zain Kenya managing director Rene Meza said the company had started rolling out value-added services on the Zap platform following the launch of the money transfer service over the last two months. “Through Zap we would like to make sure that customers enjoy the benefit of convenience while undertaking commercial transactions. We are also happy to avail our wide network to KPLC which we trust will help in cutting down the company's transaction costs,” said Meza.
Upon registration, Zain provides the customer with a virtual bank account, which allows subscribers to use their mobile phone to transfer money.
