    Kenya markets BPO services

Earlier in the week, the Kenya ICT Board, a delegation of Kenyan industry players and stakeholders launched the country's BPO value proposition to the European market at the Call Centre Expo in Birmingham.

The value proposition spells out Kenya's BPO and off-shoring value proposition which is summarised under three broad areas namely a thriving economy, a growing BPO industry and public sector commitment to the growth of outsourcing industry.

BPO is the contracting of a third party to perform non-core functions like call centre, data entry to gain some competitive advantage such as cost saving. The main worldwide-recognised BPO hubs have traditionally been Asian countries and Kenya is keen on a share of the market. The Kenyan government has identified BPO as one of the six pillars of Kenya's economy and the development of the industry is one of Kenya ICT Boards key mandates.

A boost to the marketing initiative was Kencall winning the Non-European Call Center of the Year 2008 Award at the European Call Center Awards held in Birmingham, UK.
