LG pushes for Anti-Counterfeit Bill in Kenya
LG is pushing for the enactment of the Anti-Counterfeit Bill into law as a measure to fight peddling of counterfeit goods such as cellphone handsets and associated gadgets in Kenya.
According to the independent daily, The Standard, LG regional marketing manager George Mudhune said some stringent punitive measures against dealers in counterfeit goods should be slapped with deterrent laws.
“With counterfeit goods, the government is denied revenue as such goods are shipped or diverted into the country in secrecy. Buyers also get a raw deal as the goods may be defective or not configured to serve the buyer's country or market,” said Mudhune.
