Media Council of Kenya elects new chairman

Odindo, who is also a member of the Board of the World Editors Forum, is a long-serving media practitioner and represents the Kenya Editors Guild at the Council.
He replaces Professor Levi Obonyo. Odindo has been a member of the Ethics and Public Information Committee of the Council as well as the chairman of the Editorial Board of the Council's quarterly magazine, The Media Observer.
The Media Council of Kenya is composed of 13 Council members representing the following media stakeholders: Media Owners Association, Kenya Union of Journalists, Kenya Editors Guild, Public Relations Society of Kenya, Kenya Correspondents' Association, Law Society of Kenya, Kenya News Agency, Kenya Institute of Mass Communications and Public and Private Universities.
Sarah Nkatha, who represents the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) at the Council, retains her position as the vice chairperson of the council.
